2025 Ladies' Retreat
|
Dates: April 4- 5| Host: Windsor Baptist Church, 1115 Windsor Rd., Loves Park
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" Ecclesiastes 3:1
Life is a journey, a winding path filled with highs and lows, twists and turns. But amidst it all, there’s one constant: the guiding hand of the Author of our faith, Jesus Christ. Trusting in God brings stability amid uncertainty, leading to peace beyond comprehension. Through the ups and downs, each season of life serves a purpose in God’s grand design, revealing His faithfulness. Join us in embracing this journey of faith, knowing that with God, every season is an opportunity for growth, grace, and glorious transformation.

God places me in different times or seasons throughout my life. His purpose is to reveal Himself as the source of living waters in every circumstance. Because the Lord is my HOPE, I can be like a tree that is flourishing, even in drought-time.
Our 2025 Main Speaker: Amy Herbster
Amy Herbster traveled with her husband Mark in the ministry of itinerant evangelism for seventeen years, participating in music and children's ministries, speaking for various ladies' events, and homeschooling their four girls. Their summers were filled with ministry at the Wilds Camp, where Mark assisted at junior camp and Amy was a nurse.
From 2018-2023, Mark and Amy lived in Watertown, where Mark served in the Bible Department of Maranatha Baptist University. They recently moved to Taylors, SC, for Mark to join the pastoral team of Faith Baptist Church. Mark and Amy have two married daughters and two daughters, ages 14 and 15 still living at home.

Ruth and her husband, Terry, lived in the Rockford area for many years and now reside in Paxton, IL. She has taught ladies' Bible studies for many years—at church, in her home, and online. God has also allowed her to develop a prayer notebook system and various witnessing tools.
Ruth was saved at age 29 after reading a Ryrie Study Bible for two years. Although God brought believers into her life, no one ever shared the gospel with her or even gave her a gospel tract. That experience deepened her sensitivity to those who are lost. Her strong desire to share the gospel, along with her gifts of Exhortation and Faith, has been used by God to inspire and encourage others to “speak Christ” wherever they go. |
Cynthia was reared in a Christian home and heard the gospel from her earliest days. She made a
profession faith as a young child but all she remembers from the event is the photo her parents took as she told her brother she got saved. While in high school, Cynthia attended The Wilds Christian Camp and trusted Christ as her Savior. “God gave me the desire to teach” Cynthia explains. She obtained a degree in Secondary Education from Bob Jones University and following graduation moved to Illinois where she taught and coached in a Christian school for several years. She also started helping with junior church and teaching Bible classes. She has taught the Word of God for over 35 years — to children and teen girls and now in her ladies class. Cynthia enjoys teaching and watching sunsets and listening to the ocean. And though there aren’t any oceans in Central Illinois, there are a lot of gorgeous sunsets. |
Rachel Potter is an introverted homebody whom God prodded out from behind a book. She has now lived on three continents and can hardly believe the wealth of experiences God brought her through. She is currently the church secretary at Marquette Manor Baptist Church. In her free time, she volunteers as an ESL tutor and tries to keep up with friends and family in different time zones - and she still enjoys books.
|
Janet has been a Christian school teacher for over twenty-five years. The Lord has also given her opportunities to serve Him in Europe, Russia, South Korea and New Zealand. She is currently teaching kindergarten in Pekin.
|
Ruth Bartlett is a disciple of Jesus Christ and desires for God to use her to make and strengthen more disciples. She earned a Masters in Counseling from BJU, where she met and married her best friend and husband, Greg. Greg and Ruth are blessed with 6 wonderful children. Ruth ministered with her husband for 10 years in northern Canada where God allowed them to plant a church and Greg helped to start a Bible college. The Lord moved them to Galesburg, Illinois, where she serves alongside Greg, who is Pastor of Discipleship at Harmony Baptist Church.
|
Jean Potter is a homeschool mother of seven children. She served with her husband David as a missionary in
Hungary for 21 years. Now retired, she teaches a ladies’ Bible study for her church, Heritage Baptist of Roscoe, Illinois. |
Kim Scott lives in Rochelle, IL with her husband, Matthew, and three kids - Josiah (20), Cadence (18), and Gideon (14). Her two oldest are currently at Maranatha Baptist University, and she is homeschooling Gideon. Kim accepted Jesus as her Savior during summer camp around 8 years old. Kim is a graduate Maranatha Baptist Bible College (now Maranatha Baptist University) with a degree in Music Education. She has enjoyed teaching elementary general music, all band levels (I actually really love beginning band), and choir. She currently teaches 22 private lessons in piano, voice, flute, and trumpet. She is also involved in our church music ministry and lead our Awana program.
Kim is a natural introvert who loves books, organizing, cooking/baking, and (recently discovered because of my oldest son) pour over coffee. Fun fact - she is a farmer's daughter raised doing all the country things including driving a tractor and baling hay. But she also had Clydesdale horses that they would take to the Boome County Fair and show in the summers - good times! |

Ecclesiastes – these times in and of themselves are all pointless, if there is no God. Therefore, since there is a God, and He has given me many different times or seasons, He must have made a way for me to glorify Him in the midst of all these things. He makes it possible to grow and bear fruit in these seasons – because He is the source of salvation, strength, and joy. At all times!
